Scot Tsang, our Head of Operations and In-House Legal talks about the impact of praise, the journey we go on with clients, and his former career!

What motivates you at work?

I have worked with some incredible people over the years and receiving praise and recognition from those people is the best feeling in the world.  When someone you really respect and want to impress tells you that you are doing a great job, it is so rewarding and encouraging.  I may not be saving lives or putting out fires but I care about what I do and to receive good feedback is very validating.

What do you love most about what you do?

I genuinely enjoy the human aspects of the property industry, whether it’s dealing with someone’s home, business or investment – nothing gets people talking and worked up as much as real estate!  It’s great to be part of the emotional journey with clients and to help them fulfil their dreams and goals.  With property, there is a very tangible end result.  I love walking past and pointing out buildings that I’ve been involved with.  The most stunning property was a grade 1 listed castle and scheduled monument in Wiltshire.

Tell us a surprising or fun fact about you.

After university I actually worked as a cook and a chef. One of the best experiences I had was at the Ritz-Carlton Resort in Colorado which was often visited by celebrities and used for filming.  I once had Secret Service in the kitchen when George Bush Senior was visiting.  We were very firmly told to put our knives away as he toured the hotel!
